mitote dance intensive is a 3 day contemporary dance workshop imparted by renowned Mexican Artists ending in an informal show. This is for dancers seeking to expand their skills, strengthen their movement, have an intercultural experience and collaborate with well-known international artists from Mexico.
At Mitote Dance Intensive Mexican artists will travel to Arizona, uniting with local artists to exchange knowledge, cultura, and perspectives on various dance disciplines.
Michelle Calderas
Michelle Calderas is a highly accomplished dancer, holding a BFA in Dance from the Autonomous University of Baja California. She excels as a teacher, choreographer, performer, and dance promoter in Mexico and the United States. Her diverse experience in Hip-Hop and contemporary dance as well as her global training make her a unique asset that will be harnessed at Mitote Dance Intensive.
Michelle has been an integral part of the Hip-Hop Mexican dance group Tequila Movement, serving as a dancer and choreographer participating in competitions across Mexico and the US.
As a valued member of Tranze Danza Contemporánea, Michelle has showcased her talent as an interpreter at international dance festivals in Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and US. She co-created Nodos Danza, exploring and fusing Hip-Hop and Contemporary movements in her work and co-created Interconnection: Danza Baja, a platform for dancers to take contemporary and Hip-Hop classes and showcase their work in Baja California. Michelle's commitment to nurturing talent in both countries is admirable.

Alejandro Salomon
Alejandro Salomon is an accomplished contemporary dancer, teacher, performer, and choreographer. As the founder of "Movimiento Progresivo," he has played a pivotal role in the field of dance by establishing a thriving community in his current city of residence, San Luis, Sonora. His efforts have made significant contributions to the local dance scene, fostering a culture of creativity, growth, and collaboration. He has a strong academic background, utilizing his unique perspective and expertise in dance partnering, duets, and lifts; he will deliver exceptional classes and showcase his choreographic skills throughout Mitote Dance Intensive .
Alejandro has received numerous awards as a dancer and choreographer, participating in national forums as well as international performances as a member of Tranze Danza Contemporanea in Malaysia, Taiwan, United States and Mexico.
He currently serves as the co-director of the Paola Ponce Choreographic Institute and teaches his “Movimiento Progresivo” Dance Class. His unwavering commitment, exceptional talent, and notable achievements position him as a distinguished figure in the Mexican dance community.
Zarina Mendoza
A Mexican immigrant with a BFA in dance who has been teaching for over 10 years at International Festivals and Local Studios. She has also imparted her workshop “Power Flow '' inspired by improvisation, acrobatic movement, floorwork, flying low and basic capoeira techniques to professional dance companies in Asia
and Mexico.
Zarina is founder , director and Choreographer of Tranze Danza Contemporanea, her company has performed at remarcable festivals in South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Costa Rica, United States, Taiwan and Mexico.
She is now part of nueBOX non-profit organization that provides resources for BIPOC artists in Arizona and also collaborates with established choreographers in Arizona like : Mary Fitzgerald, Liliana Gomez, Yvonne Montoya to mention a few.
